Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

One of my favorite books. It doesn't matter that is was printed in 1990. If you haven't read it, you should. if you have, you already love it and want to read it again...and again...and again. Humor and satire at it's best. Incredible imagination from both of these authors and I for one, can never get enough.

This is what happens when an Angel and a Demon mess up their Orders from Above and Below and the spawn of satan is raised in a loving, Christian family home and all the chaos that follows. The Angel and Demon's attempts at righting their wrong without their bosses finding out. The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride in on their Harley's with Pestilence quitting after the invention of penicillin and Pollution replacing him. DEATH ONLY TALKS IN CAPITAL LETTERS. I'm laughing as I type this. I want so much to tell you more but I am holding back because my intent is to entice and intrigue you enough to buy or download this book. There is not a down moment in this book. No drag time, no chapter after chapter set up and absolutely no disappointment in the end. This is British tongue-in-cheek humor at it's absolute finest.

Yes, I am a Christian but that does not mean that I don't appreciate great humor and this is great humor. I am a fan of both these authors and have many of their books. That is what drew me to this collaboration of the two great minds. This book is brilliant - humor, fantasy, sci-fi, whatever you want to tag it with. This is one of the best ways to explain this book...I have had to replace my own copy 4 times. My first and second, I loaned out and never got back. My third, I literally wore out from rereading it. So now, I have my fourth which I paid dearly for on ebay as I had to have another hardback copy and foolish me wanted a first edition. And lastly....my fifth because yes, I downloaded it so that I could have it on the go!

If you are looking for deep theology...you will not find it here. I'll get reviews up on books that we can debate that point. But if you want a well-written, well thought out, imaginative laugh out loud book to read or listen to, this is the one. If you completely get Monty Python humor, you will love Good Omens!

Terry Pratchett is brilliant. He has a series of books in Discworld. Here's the link to his website http://www.terrypratchettbooks.com and I bet you will find things to interest you there! Wyrd Sisters is one of my favorites but I haven't read a bad one of his yet.

Neil Gaiman's website is http://www.neilgaiman.com and you will recognize instantly one of his titles. He wrote Coraline which was made into a movie. My favorite of his is Neverwhere.

Thanks for leaving a comment! I'll get more reviews up this weekend. I'm just getting started doing this.

One of the best books I've ever read thanks to your recommendation. giving me a copy didn't hurt either. I've in turn given it to several others that I thought needed a good laugh.
